Simon began his television career as a presenter with Scottish Television's EIKON, where he looked at the moral, social and ethical issues of topics like drug addiction and prostitution. He was responsible for researching, producing, directing and scripting these items, as well as less heavy features on food and films.
His multiple talents were called on again when he scripted and co-presented LWT's CLOSE SHAVE - a very risqué magazine program, which was described as a "Cosmopolitan for men"! This time the topics ranged from pop music to the Karma Sutra.
Simon’s ability to cope with the unexpected and unpredictable has taken him round the country as co-presenter of LIVE WIRE, on the cable station, Wire TV. But it wasn't just events like the Edinburgh festival that featured in his schedule. He experienced the biggest ups and downs of his career when he presented the program from the top of the world's highest roller coaster!
For millions of viewers, he's also the man they used to blame each morning for the worst of the British weather. He was up at the crack of dawn to deliver the details on GMTV. He co-presented the show live from Australia with Anthea Turner, presented many a road show from various locations around the UK and the rest of the world. He also has the dubious honour of being the only weatherman to have forecast from between the humps of an Arabian camel, on the high wire of a trapeze and from underwater in a shark tank - live, of course.
